quiz 3
1. “Researchers estimate 150 cases should be enough to prove that a vaccine is at least 50% effective. The large number of volunteers in each study is an effort to make sure those 150 cases occur as rapidly as possible.”
(Why Tens Of Thousands Of People Are Key To Testing A COVID-19 Vaccine)
Are you reassured by this approach?
I think that this is a terrible approach to trying to validate a vaccine for the masses. 150 people is nowhere near the amount of people needed to test, much less get ready for distribution to the general public throughout the nations of the world. there is nowhere the needed variety of bodies and body types to say that it is approved or effective. What about allergies and immunological disorders? What about diabetics alone? There are so many variations of so many pre-existing diseases that saying that just because it worked for 150 people, actually, make that at least 75 people, that it is good for 75 million, or even 5 billion... just ridiculous.
2. “There has also been an increase in virtual trials, which use remote monitoring, teleconferencing, and digital data collection tools to conducted trials outside of traditional clinical trial sites.”
(Covid-19 is forcing pharma to rethink clinical trials)
Would you now expect “telehealth” appointments to play a part in your own practice, for example?
From this point forward, yes, I would absolutely see telehealth playing a part in my practice. For one, there will still be the people that do not want to go into public or put themselves at risk during htese times... but also that by the time that Covid is gone, telehealth or remote health sessions will be a norm, and this type of convenience for the patient wont just go away that quickly.
3. “During the COVID-19 pandemic we have realized that TCM must follow its own unique path of development,” (TCM Solutions Helpful in Fighting COVID-19)
Can you see this “unique path of development” emerging?
