  The Placebo/Nocebo Discussion – what are your own views on this? I am still in a mindset that if the placebo or nocebo is helping someone feel better and lead a healthier life,  I am all for it.   A while ago,  my mindset was different...  I would see people doing various types of yoga, and I would think...all this mess over standing around and stretching, and even some in a hot A** room, just go workout and build some strength... But my viewpoint of this part of the world have changed, and now I believe that no matter what it is that is working for you, to have a better and healthier life, I am all for it.  I don't care if it's yoga, meditation, tai Chi, walking backwards or patting your head and rubbing your belly while standing on one foot.  Go for it, do what your body is telling you to do, get your mind and body communicating and in sync and lead a healthy life!!!

 Well,  I was pretty content that most people are thinking logically about the vaccines that they say are safe and almost ready for distribution.  Logically in the manner that there is some mistrust going on and people aren't jumping all over something that "they" say will help and make you not get sick.   I also find it interesting this whole vaccine thing...  to me, it is just a race to get it made so the financials will come pouring in...  Maybe it's just me, but the whole industry of the vaccine stuff seems so cold and heartless.  Sure, the individuals maybe be medical minded people that really do care about saving and preserving lives, but the industry as a whole seems like all it cares about is meeting just enough requirements to get the drug/vaccine produced so that they can bump the stock and make more money.,

  Biochemistry is a field of science concerned with the chemical substances and processes that occur in plants, animals, and microorganisms.   I like this definition because it incorporates the terminology that is inclusive to all life on this planet.  Plants, animals, and microorganisms.  Granted, the microorganisms is most likely what gave way to all other life, butit is inclusive. 

  Your thoughts on today’s class:   I really enjoyed our first class.  It was very nice to see familiar and new faces.  This class is a great mixing pot of all the years students at the Academy.  Some on their way in, some almost out, and others still in the thickit of the mess of school and studying.   But Larry's classes always bring about a good conversation as well as some mind opening new ideas.  and if those topics for class don't do it,  there is always someone willing to share their perspective, which may be a whole new light to shine on a subject. We have a rather large class this time with Larry, which I am enjoying.  So many new ideas and perspectives to listen to, as well more people to keep the conversations going.  I really enjoyed the topics for class as well, and look forward the this weeks topics also.  I think Larry has a good plan for this term and I am looking forward to all the classes for BioChem.   Class Quiz – The Chemistry of Life Your Name:Scott Today’s Date:September 1. “For Pfizer, the first interim look occurs when 32 trial volunteers get infected.” (How drugmakers can keep their pledge and still deliver an October vaccine surprise) What are your thoughts on the prospects of an “emergency vaccine approval process”?  Just the term "emergency vaccine" is a bit daunting to begin with.  It sounds rushed and not really tested.   Going off the time frame that other vaccines have taken to be produced , and they think they will do it in almost 1/4 of the time, seems a bit sketchy to me.  I, will not be getting a vaccine for covid, no matter what they say the trials are producing.
